FAQs

Passion Revealed

There are several lists that assign meanings to rose colours. About the only thing they agree on is that deep red expresses passionate love.

With so many new shades and varieties being grown, we've given up trying to match a colour to a specific meaning. You should know that most women prefer peach, pink or cream shades and men prefer the richer red or orange tones.  Beyond that, experiment a little and try some beautiful two-toned varieties like Lipstick or Confetti. Big Fun is a huge rose with peach and red. Mauve roses tend to have the most scent. Yellow roses may open fast, but they last a long time.

Our growers in Ecuador are always developing new varieties. Trends now are towards highly scented roses with lots of petals - more like a garden rose. Ask us what's new!

Here is a compilation:

Red roses~ Passionate love, respect, courage

White & Red roses ~ Unity, inseparable love

White roses ~ Purity, innocence, spirituality, secrecy, silence

Yellow roses ~ Admiration, hope, joy, happiness

Orange roses ~ Secret love

Pink roses ~ Friendship, gentleness, gracefulness, admiration, sympathy

Black roses ~ Someone's obsession

Champagne roses ~ Tenderness, lasting beauty

Salmon roses ~ Commitment, adoration

Purple roses ~ First love, sweet love

Yellow & red roses ~ Prosperity

Copper roses - Gratitude

Flowers are known for speaking without words, but some people want them to be explicit. Throughout history, lists have been compiled so that coded messages could be sent - mainly to impress a young woman! This was especially popular in Victorian England.
