Before you visit the Florist

Before visiting Martin's for a bridal consultation, we hope you have already chosen the attendants’ dresses – the colour of the dresses is a major consideration in choosing the flowers. Usually we will create all the bouquets, church flowers and reception arrangements in co-ordinated colours .This gives the wedding a unified look, a theme.

If you see flowers that appeal to you in a magazine, tear out or mark the pages so that wRomantic Bridal Bouquete can begin to see what you like. But please be ready to entertain other suggestions!

Don’t be afraid to have a budget. Usually a wedding consultation will begin with concepts and favourite flowers. When prices are calculated, you can choose what is most important to you and discard other ideas. Often, one or two large arrangements can make more impact on a room than a little arrangement on each table.

Flowers are perishable. Our Bridal Consultant will help you choose flowers that they reasonably expect to be able to provide. Should something go wrong, we will substitute flowers that give the same effect as the original ones. And this will be discussed with you as soon as we are aware of the problem. There will be no nasty surprises!

If you can keep the bouquets in a cool place when not in use, and spritz them with water occasionally, they should perform well for the entire day. If you have a hand-tied bouquet, keep a vase handy with a little water in the bottom. Just pop the bouquet in the vase when you are not holding it, and it should stay lovely and fresh for the day.

Choose seasonal flowers. Celebrate the season! Tulips in spring or sunflowers in late summer – beautiful!

Sure, it’s only one day. But you will be remembering that day and looking at pictures for years to come. Indulge your love of flowers and make that day beautiful!
